Flowers after Five: a New Twist on Lewis Ginter

When you think of the Central Virginia area, Botanical Gardens may not be the first thing to come to mind but you’re in luck as Richmond is home to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, a historic property that features fifty acres of gardens, including a dozen themed garden, and the Conservatory with tropical displays.

While a trip to Lewis Ginter should be on any visitor’s list, we’d suggest considering their summer event Flowers after Five, which combines the beauty of the gardens, with a wine tasting and dancing under the stars. The second Thursday of each month is also Fidos After Five, and your leashed pet can join in on the fun!

Below, is Lewis Ginter’s current schedule so be sure to find time in your travels to Richmond to make time for this unique, and fun event.

July 1: A Taste of Italy
Virginia Opera performs favorite selections; wines by Barboursville Vineyards.

July 8: Local Favorites
Music by a local performer; wines by James River Wine Cellars.
Also a Fidos After 5 night; Garden partners with the Richmond SPCA and leashed pets are allowed.

July 15: From the Blue Ridge to the Garden
Cook County Bluegrass; wines by White Hall Vineyards.

July 22: Southern Charm
The Garcia Jazz Trio; wines by Spring Creek Wine Cellar; melon tastings, too.

July 29: Boutique Wines, Big Taste
The CMP Trio (VCU Jazz); wines by Castle Gruen Vineyards.

August 5: Celebrate Summer
The Dance Space teaches dance moves and plays music; wines by Byrd Cellars.

August 12: Women, Wine & Wags
Live music TBA; Women for Winesense pour wines from Once Upon A Vine.
Also a Fidos After 5 night; Garden partners with the Richmond SPCA and leashed pets are allowed.

August 19: The French Connection
VCU Jazz; wines by Delfosse Vineyards; cheese tastings, too.

August 26: Season Finale
Live music TBA; Women for Winesense pour wines; tomato tastings, too.
