A New Addition to the Historic Mankin Mansion Family

July 28th, 2010

What a busy summer it’s been here at Historic Mankin Mansion! We’ve enjoyed our summer weddings and guests, and have appreciated the opportunity to meet more brides and wedding professionals at the bridal shows. As the season progressed however, we realized that we needed to bring in someone from the outside to assist with our marketing initiatives. With that, we are pleased to announce that Meghan Ely with OFD Consulting is now a part of the Historic Mankin Mansion family as Director of Marketing!

We have enjoyed working with Meghan in several capacities over the years. Meghan has been in the Richmond wedding industry for the last seven years, spending the majority of the time with the five star, five diamond Jefferson Hotel. In early 2009, she formed niche pr/marketing firm OFD Consulting, which services the wedding industry. Since then, she’s also become Managing Director of the Richmond Bridal Association, of which we are proud members. Meghan brings her marketing/pr know how, as well as her wedding industry insight, to the table and we couldn’t be more pleased.  Meghan will have various responsibilities with the Mansion, including hosting our upcoming luncheon with the Greater Richmond Tourism Association.

So what’s next for Historic Mankin Mansion? Join us August 8 at the Richmond Bridal Showcase, where we will be meeting even more brides for the 2010-2011 season. We’ve also been working with some amazing, and generous photographers, to update our wedding portfolio. All the latest can be found on our Facebook fan page, so if you haven’t become a fan yet, be sure to do so today!

See you soon,
Paula & Martin Ramirez

Isn’t she Lovely?

July 25th, 2010

We were thrilled to open the Sunday edition of the Richmond Times Dispatch, only to find out very own Wedding Planner Mary-Catherine Berry featured as the very first bride for Celebrations’ “Sweet Deets.”

Mary-Catherine’s sense of style was certainly prevalent during her own wedding, and we enjoyed seeing how she added special touches to her Big Day.

Pick up today’s paper to learn more about her fun menu, fabulous team of wedding experts and the cute story of how Mary-Catherine and her now husband met.

Here at Historic Mankin Mansion, we’re thrilled to have Mary-Catherine on board to work intimately with our brides through every step of their wedding plans. Are you a bride looking to add personal touches to your own Richmond wedding? Can’t decide on your tablescapes, or even a First Dance song?

Well just give us a call at Historic Mankin Mansion, and be sure to ask for Mrs. Berry.

The Flying Squirrels are in Richmond!

July 14th, 2010

Sports may not always be the first thing you think of when traveling to Richmond, but all that has changed, as we recently welcomed the minor league baseball team the Flying Squirrels.

Tomorrow, July 15th will be another night in the Thursday Night Fireworks Series. In addition to the fireworks extravaganza their will be live entertainment provided by Jimmy Catlett. The first pitch will be at 7:05pm.

They will be up against the Bowie Baysox, with upcoming games against the Trenton Thunder, Reading Phillies, Altoona Curve, New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Portland Sea Dogs.

A night out with Richmond’s very own Flying Squirrels is a great addition to any trip to our fair city so be sure to grab tickets when in town and get ready to do some cheering!

Visit the Flying Squirrels web site for the latest, as well as to review their remaining schedule for the summer. Hope to see you there!

Historic Mankin Mansion’s Very Own Feature on the Radio

July 7th, 2010

We were thrilled to hear that our very own Wedding Planner Mary-Catherine Berry was to be featured as part of a winning contest on Richmond radio show Girlfriend We Gotta Talk with Mary Foley and Suzie Galvez. Little did she know that her best friend Meghan Ely had actually entered her in the “Best Girlfriends” contest while Mary-Catherine was on her honeymoon. It was icing on the (wedding) cake, when Mary-Catherine found out the good news while at a wedding at the Mansion!

Girlfriend We Gotta Talk is a weekly show on Sundays that covers any and all women related topics. This month, Mary and Suzie were celebrating girlfriends as part of their second anniversary, and Meghan submitted an entry for their Girlfriends Stories contests, tales of how girlfriends have helped each other out during particular times in their life.

Meghan’s story about Mary-Catherine stood out, and she was asked to be interviewed on their show about their friendship. Well naturally, she had to bring Mary-Catherine along, and before you know it, they were huddle together in one part of the Mansion doing their interview just a couple of weeks ago.

We enjoyed hearing their fun tale and we were thrilled that the happy ending to Mary-Catherine’s story was when she began working here at Historic Mankin Mansion. It was also a wonderful story, since Meghan is now also a part of the Historic Mankin Mansion family, as our Director of Marketing.

If you didn’t catch it the first time, then just click here to hear their fun story- theirs is the first one featured in the series- girlfriendwegottatalk062710
