Waltz through the Virginia Fine Arts Museum Art after Hours

October 4th, 2010

We were very excited when art made a comeback here in Richmond with the re-opening of the exquisitely modern Virginia Fine Arts Museum. We were pleasantly surprised about the happening night life that actually takes place after dark with the VMFA’s weekly event Art After Hours, hosted by the museum to showcase different cultures and regions.

Art is not the only thing displayed, as you can showcase your dance moves as well. Each evening is themed differently from Miami Spice, Funk & Style, to Louisiana Swamp Stomp. Dance lessons are offered to teach your feet a few new moves from salsa, the cha-cha, rumba, and zydeco. Carrying the theme through the evening, food from the region is available. Specialty drinks are mixed and offered to keep your feet moving and grooving.

Art after Hours is located in the Marble Hall and the West Wing Terrace. The Marble Hall alone is an art piece with finely detailed architecture, also access to the museums’ most prized galleries located just off the hall are available for browsing. The West Wing Terrace will give you a chance you enjoy the crisp Virginia October air.

So, bring your dancing shoes and join them for an evening out of dancing, art, great food, and meeting some amazing locals. Every Thursday evening from 6pm to 9pm, admission is free, but be sure to bring money to receive the whole experience of beverages and delectable delights.

Please visit the VMFA museum’s web site for more information.

See You Soon.
