Field Trip Time! Off to DuCard Vineyards

March 8th, 2011

DuCard Vineyards will satisfy your inner wines connoisseur, with their several deliciously and locally made Virginia wines. Located in charming Madison County and described as a boutique winery in a majestic mountain setting, DuCard is just an afternoon drive away from the Mansion.

The winery sets on 7 acres, featuring grapes that have gained national and international fame. If you are intrigued by the process of grapes to wine and how they care for the grapes, you can adopt a row and the friendly staff a DuCard will take you step by step through the process.

But, we know why you all really want to go.  It is all about the wine and the tasting.  So, let’s get down to business shall we?

The wines that are crafted include: Signature Viognier, Gibson Hollow Viognier, Sweet Virginia Vidal Blanc, Popham Run Bordeaux Blend, and Virginia Native Norton. The tasting room is cozy and comfy just what you would imagine a nestled winery to be.

With a cathedral ceiling window wall creating a picture frame for the nothing but, picture perfect views of the Shenandoah Valley. A fireplace and oversized chairs invites you to take a seat and enjoy the scenery that surrounds you. History is embedded into the flooring with 100-year-old oak board that were saved from barns that were located on the property. A side patio where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine and warm spring Virginia weather, where the calming stream will rush all your cares away, as you enjoy the majestic vineyard’s view.

We hope you take a nice joy ride to this Madison County treasure DuCard Winery.
