The Secret is out!

April 28th, 2011

Well the secret is out! Style Weekly has officially announced the winners of its Best of Contest for 2011 and we are thrilled to announce that we  one of the ones honored for Best Hidden Gem.”

Years ago, when we first purchased the property, we never would have imagined how quickly we were welcomed into the Richmond community.  We’ve made so many great friends- from the wedding and hospitality industries as well as those travelers who have called the Mansion “home” for a get away.

This great news was simply icing on the cake- we are humbled and grateful for the community’s support, as always.

See you soon,

Eat Drink and be Merry, its Food Festival Season

April 25th, 2011

We love trying out some new types of food and we can’t think of a better way than the Lebanese and Greek Food Festival’s this spring.

The first cultural food festival is the Lebanese Fest on May 13 through the 15. The festival is provided by and takes place at the Saint Anthony Maronite Church in Glen Allen. With traditional music, sweets, and regional favorites this is a spectacular way to learn and experience a new culture and food. Boxed lunches are available which include a combination of the top sellers and a sweet treat. Also, individual plates are availableand for those of you who wish to eat the delectable regional dishes throughout the year frozen items are available to order also.

The Greek Festival, a springtime tradition for most Richmonders, will return June 2 through the 5. The festival takes place behind the Seventh Street Christian Church on Grove Avenue. Decked out with the great traditions of the Greeks, dancing will be in full swing along with the traditional music. While your there you should check out the beautiful tour of the Sanctuary in a guided tour running every half-hour. An extensive a la carte menu including: gyros, pastries, calamari, grape leaves and many others will be in abundant supply. Not the mention the flow of Greek Wine!

We suggest checking out and savoring these cultural food festivals. And hey, remember there is always tomorrow to start that diet enjoy the food today!

Taste Test Richmond- Restaurant Week

April 11th, 2011

Restaurant Week is a staple in Richmond, happening every Spring and Fall to help the FeedMore Organization. Starting April 25th continuing through May 1st you can taste RVA’s local favorites and help out a much-needed charity.

Richmond Restaurant week was created by Aline Reitzer, Owner of Acacia a mid-town restaurant serving dishes with an emphasis on seafood and regional favorites, who found herself bombarded with donation requests. She modeled the Restaurant Week after those in New York City, but she added a charitable component with money going to the FreedMore, an umbrella organization for the Central Virginia Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, and the Community Kitchen. Now with thirty participating restaurants and with over $25,000 dollars raised in last fall’s Fundraiser, the Restaurant Week is here to stay.

During this week area chefs create a fixed three-course menu, for $25.11 per person with $2.11 donated to FeedMore. Restaurants range from wine bars, taverns, seafood, to traditional Southern, and much more. We suggest setting up reservations prior to insure you receive a good table. This is a perfect opportunity to taste test these local favorites, we hope to run into you!
