RVA Fireworks on the James

June 20th, 2011

It is what Richmonders have been looking forward to for the last year! Fireworks will fill the sky over the James River, on the 3rd of July, celebrating America’s Independence.

This is a first time event, but is sure to one not to miss! The event will take place on Brown’s Island with the fireworks being set off over the river. The event will bring together everyone from both sides of the river to celebrate such a momentous day to all of us.

This is a family friendly event, with activities for all ages. The event will include performances by the Scholl of Preforming Arts in the Richmond Community, the Richmond Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Richmond Ballet’s “Minds in Motion.” The performances and music will be very patriotic, in celebrating America. Food vendors will be there to satisfy your hunger. They do encourage bringing your own blanket or lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the entertainment and fireworks.

Grucci, the top fireworks company in the nation, will provide the fireworks. They carry the reputation and name of the “Top Name in Fireworks in the World,: hosting many large events such as U.S. Presidential Inaugurations and the annual Washington D.C. fireworks display.

The Richmond skyline will be the perfect backdrop for this dazzling display, without a bad seat in the house. This is going to be another fabulous event sponsored by Dominon and MWV (MeadWestvaco), which is sure to not disappoint.

Brown’s Island will be open at 6:00pm with entertainment beginning at 7:30pm, and the fireworks will begin around 9:3opm. This is a free event. There is ample parking available around Brown’s Island, be sure to bring cash to pay for parking. We hope you don’t miss out on the First Annual RVA Fireworks on the James, that will be sure to become a Richmond favorite and tradition.
