Richmond Weddings: Ellen and Dan Tied the Knot!

August 24th, 2011

We can hardly believe it but it’s nearly time to say good bye to our summer weddings already, with September right around the corner. Luckily, James Linkowitz with Linkowitz Photography was kind enough to share Ellen and Dan’s recent wedding at the Mansion to give us one more dose of the summer! :)

Dan and Seal were a great couple and we adored all the little touches they put on the day. Ellen actually created the cake topper herself and we wish you could have all been there to see their choreographed First Dance. Too, too cute.

For more of this gorgeous day, be sure to visit James’ recent blog post on the lovely day!

Rocketts Red Glare – Labor Day Fireworks!

August 22nd, 2011

Summer time is winding down and Rocketts Landing is making sure that it ends with a bang with fireworks over the James.

On Monday, September 5, summer will officially be over sadly, but we have a great event to top off the season. Rocketts Landing will be hosting a Labor Day celebration starting at 7:30pm with the acclaimed Richmond Symphony entertaining throughout the evening. And when the sunsets and the moonrises above the James, so will the fireworks. As a fun added touch, the fireworks choreographed along with the Richmond Symphony playing the 1812 Overture.

When attending the event, there are few things you should keep in mind. The good news is that there is plenty of parking available around Rocketts Landing. You are encouraged to bring your lawn chairs and blankets to be sure that everyone is comfortable for the firework show. Kids and four-legged friends are also welcome! Picnics are allowed, but Rocketts Landing has three wonderful restaurants: M Bistro and Wine Bar, Conch Republic Rocketts, and The Boathouse if you feel like a night out. For those looking for a sweet ending to the event, ice cream and shaved ice will be set up and available for purchase.

If trying to beat the crowds, you can consider setting up shop beyond the event, as you will be able to see the fireworks from Libby Hill, Chimborazo Park, and Gillies Creek Park.

So, say goodbye to a fun RVA summer and hello to beautiful southern fall weather.

Wicked!

August 15th, 2011

We know what you’re thinking- how in the world are you thinking about October already?
But when we hear Broadway calling, we can’t help ourselves!

That’s right- the Tony award-winning Wicked is back by popular demand and will be at Landmark Theater between October 5 and 16.
Tickets went on sale last week and we highly encourage you to jump on the chance to watch this

From USA Today–

Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for “the most complete and completely satisfying new musical in a long time.”

Tickets range from $35-$77.50 (plus handling) and if it is anything like its last run here in Richmond, they will sell out quickly. Click here for more information and to purchase your tickets before they sell out!
