The Richmond Folk Festival

The Richmond Folk Festival is a fall favorite that is fast approaching. Be sure that you mark off your calendars for this fun filled festival in October the 14-16.

This year will be the fourth year of the festival and it will be sure to live up to the hype. It has been voted Richmond’s best musical festival for 2 years now. The Folk Festival showcases the Commonwealth and other areas best musicians, dancers, storytellers, and crafters. The event will take place right on the James River on Browns Island. This large event features a marketplace with interesting and unique items ranging from handcrafted jewelry, original artwork, all natural body products, woodcarvings, and so much more. You will be sure to find that perfect souvenir to remember your Folk Festival weekend. Local restaurants and vendors will be there with their best of the best dishes with lots of International flair. Beer trucks and wine will also be available.

Performers will range in cultural backgrounds and musical styles to bring music and dance from all parts of the United States and abroad. Bluegrass, reggae, Irish, Cajun, funk, gospel, and a range of all type of musician’s will share their talents. Also, during the event a documentary series will be available for viewing. The event is free, but we suggest finding someone in the bucket brigade to throw your donation in the bucket. Don’ t miss out on this exciting festival, right on the gorgeous James River.
