Giving Thanks

November 23rd, 2011

It’s easy to sometimes forget to stop and take a quiet moment in the midst of work and errands along with holiday shopping and general to do’s that tend to pop up this time of year. But today, we’d like to do just that and express our gratitude to our friends, family, colleagues and clients, for being a part of another wonderful year. We are grateful for each and every one of you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well Wishes to a Friend

November 18th, 2011

There are people who keep you inspired, those that keep you in stitches and others that make you feel like you’re the only person in the room. And there was our wedding planner Mary-Catherine, who managed to do all three.

Those who know her will not be surprised that it was love at first sight.  We loved her sass and the way our brides would light up when she sauntered into a room with her sky high heels and  clipboard.  So when she came to us with news of her new, exciting position, we were not surprised that someone else also saw that undeniable spark.

We are thrilled for the wedding planning team we’ve assembled for 2012, but for today, would like to wish Mary-Catherine well as she takes on her next big adventure.

In the words of Balzac, “May you be happy always.”

The Sounds of the Season

November 17th, 2011

The Holidays are just around the corner and we have just the right concerts that will put you in the mood of season. The Mannheim Steamroller and Trans Siberian Orchestra are making a stop in Richmond for their Winter Tours.

The Christmas Music of Mannheim Steamroller by Chip Davis will roll through town on November 26 at the Landmark Theater. Mannheim Steamroller has been in the music game for 30 years and has become one of the most popular bands in its genre. The band is described as combining the sounds of classical, rock, acoustic and electronic together to create a beautiful one of a kind sound. With the use of lights and special effects along with the music it creates a complete experience. The event starts at 8pm and ticket prices range from $37- $67.

The Trans Siberian Orchestra will be in town November 30 at the Richmond Coliseum kicking off the holiday season with a bang. The show that Trans-Siberian puts on is like none other, with explosions, lasers, lights, fogs and so much more to create a rock concert feel. With the music being described as “rock opera,” the Trans Siberian Orchestra boasts 7 million albums sold and multiple tours to its name. The fun will explode at 8pm continuing on through the evening.

Both bands take your favorite classic Holiday music and present it to you in a new and exciting way. Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance and don’t miss out on these amazing winter concerts.

Big News here at the Mansion!

November 15th, 2011

We here at the Mansion find that the off season is a great time for us to reflect on the season past as well as decide how we can better improve our offerings as we head into the new year.   One of the toughest jobs we have here at Historic Mankin Mansion is letting an eager bride know that her date isn’t available.  We find that we fill even our Sundays rather quickly, so the inevitable question would come up every so often- do you have any Fridays available?

Last season, we had the pleasure of adding new wedding planners to the Historic Mankin Mansion family (more on that at another time!) and we’re just thrilled that we have the team in place to make it official- in 2012, Historic Mankin Mansion is pleased to offer Friday weddings!

As of today, we have officially opened up any Friday for weekends that have not been booked by Wedding Weekends. This is the perfect opportunity for those with their heart set on the Mansion for their Big Day, but who may not have had the opportunity to book on the Saturday of their choosing. Friday brides will enjoy all of the benefits of their Saturday and Sunday counterparts, including use of the grounds from 2pm-11pm with five hours dedicated to the ceremony and reception, wedding planning services, valet, rentals of our wedding accessories,  use of our tables and chairs and an offsite honeymoon suite to relax after the Big Day, among other things.

The Friday One Day package will enjoy the same discounted rate as the Sunday package and for more information, please visit our web site.

So what’s next here at the Mansion you may ask? Stay tuned for our annual “Best of” blog series featuring our 2011 weddings. Additionally, we’re looking forward to introducing you to new members of the Historic Mankin Mansion team!

We look forward to seeing you all in the coming year!

See you soon,
