Mansion Weddings: Meet Marylee

December 30th, 2011

As we mentioned in our Wednesday blog post, with the New Year fast approaching we here at Historic Mankin Mansion have added a few additions to our lovely Mankin family, which we are just ecstatic to share with you!

Like Gina, Marylee may be a familiar face to you as she  was our wedding planner before she decided to take some time off to spend time at home with her sweet little girl. Well, we were just thrilled when Marylee told us she was ready to come back and start planning Mansion weddings once again!

Marylee is already back in action, having planned some weddings for us last Fall. Now, it’s onward and upward as we welcome back Marylee with open arms. Here’s a bit more insight into Marylee and what gets her excited about weddings–

Why did you decide to join the wedding industry?

Marylee: I was working in corporate events and wanted to do something more intimate. It was the best decision I ever made. I have to say I have the best job in the world to be able to see brides and grooms enjoy the happiest day of their life.

What is your favorite part about planning weddings?

Marylee: I love getting to know the bride, groom, and friends and families of the Bride and Groom, and also seeing the details that are so different for every wedding.

What are some of your favorite wedding memories?

Marylee: I have two one is my own wedding at Historic Mankin Mansion. And standing in the back with tears in my eyes listening to the brides and grooms say their own vows.

Are there any recent wedding trends that caught your eye?

Marylee:”Going green”, personalized DIY decor, dessert tables

What are you most looking forward to in the 2012 wedding season?

Marylee: Enjoying the wedding day with all the 2012 brides and grooms!

We look forward to the same thing as well Marylee- cheers to 2012! :)

See you soon,
~Paula and Martin Ramirez

Mansion Weddings: Meet Gina

December 28th, 2011

With the New Year fast approaching, we here at Historic Mankin Mansion have added a few additions to our lovely Mankin family, so we’ll be dedicating several of our upcoming posts to these wonderful people!

Today, we’re just ecstatic to introduce you to Gina. Many of you may actually already recognize her- not only was she a bride with us, but she has worked closely with us over the last few years as an assistant planner.

As a former Historic Mankin Mansion bride herself, Gina brings with her tons of great ideas, a contagious smile and some serious organizational skills! Gina spent last Summer and Fall training closely with our 2011 team and is already knee deep into some fabulous planning for 2012.

We thought we’d sit down with Gina for a few minutes to give you a little more insight-

Why did you decide to join the wedding industry?

Gina:I chose to join the wedding industry because after planning my own wedding I realized how much I enjoyed every detail that went into the planning process and the excitement of seeing it all come together on my big day!

What is your favorite part about planning weddings?

Gina:My favorite thing about planning weddings is working with the couples and seeing their unique visions for their big day come together.

Any recent wedding trends that caught your eye?

Gina: The wedding trend that has caught my eye in pictures is when the bride puts jewels on the bottom of her shoes to spell I DO.

What are you most looking forward to in the 2012 wedding season?

Gina:In the 2012 season I am looking forward to all of my brides and grooms dreams coming true!!

We can’t help but agree- some of our favorite moments take place at the end of a Mansion wedding when the bride and groom tells us that the day was the wedding of their dreams. Nothing better than that!

See you soon,
~Paula and Martin Ramirez

We’re in it to Pin It!

December 12th, 2011

That’s right- we’ve officially joined the Pinterest craze! What is Pinterest you may ask? It’s a highly addictive (if you ask us!) way to keep track of all things lovely and trendy. More and more, we’re finding our brides combing Pinterest for wedding inspiration, so we decided to set up our own set of boards here.

We’re taking things in a bit of a different direction though. Instead of pinning all of the swoon worthy pics already on Pinterest, we’re going to go ahead and showcase some of the amazing Mansion wedding images that we’ve enjoyed collecting over the years. So far, we have boards deciated ot:

If you are a Mansion bride and don’t see any of your wedding photos on there, feel free to direct us to an online spot (like the photographer’s blog) so we can pin some favorites or email us at director@historicmankinmansion.com with some of your favorites.

Visit us today on our Pinterest boards!

HMM Best of Weddings is back!

December 7th, 2011

Today, we are just THRILLED to share that we are once again hosting our Best of Weddings series on our Mansion’s Blog.
Last year, we welcomed our 2010 brides to share their favorites images and details about their Big Day and it was a huge hit. After all, who doesn’t love an endless stream of gorgeous wedding inspiration?

Between now and Friday, December 23, please send along the Best of Weddings submission to meghan@ofdconsulting.com.

Real Wedding Submissions must include:

  • 15-20 of your favorite wedding photos. Please note that images must be web ready and can include watermarks. Please send the images via zip file on email  (or) send as a folder with your last name on it, via Dropbox.com.
  • The Photographer’s name and web site so we may properly credit.
  • Permission from your Photographer to showcase the images.
  • A paragraph or two (up to 250 words)  about your Big Day. Tell us about your favorite details and memories-or anything else you’d like to share about your wedding day.

We are happy to accept wedding submissions from the bride and groom, as well as the wedding photographer.

Each wedding will be featured on the Historic Mankin Mansion Blog and the top three posts with the most blog and Facebook comments will be selected as finalists.  Each wedding will receive one more feature and the one with the most Facebook and blog comments by the deadline will be the winner!

This year, we’re taking it up a notch as we will be hosting a contest along with it for a complimentary overnight room stay at the Mansion, as well as a gift certificate to one of Paula and Martin’s favorite restaurants in town. If your wedding was already featured this year on the Blog, not a worry- we’ll happily feature you again!

Please note that we would ask that all materials (images, etc) be sent along no later than Friday, December 23, 2011. Questions? Please email us at director@historicmankinmansion.com and we’d be happy to assist!

See you soon,
