Meet our lovely interns!

May 16th, 2018

How cute are this year’s Spring 2018 Mansion Interns? Leslie and Paria are mass communications students at Virginia Commonwealth University, and Lauren is a public relations alumna from James Madison University. All three work hard to help our planners with the couples’ big day! From responding to hundreds of emails to creating wedding day magic on our grounds, we are so grateful to have had these hard-working gals on our team!

Paria: “Interning at the Historic Mankin Mansion has made my love for weddings grow and has made me excited to work in the events industry post graduation.”

Lauren: “I have loved interning at Historic Mankin Mansion these past few months because it has not only given me the opportunity to learn more about weddings and events, but it has also allowed me to work on all aspects of them, which have been amazing experiences!”

Leslie: “Interning at Historic Mankin Mansion this semester has been amazing! Being able to experience the ways of the Mansion first hand is really going to help me in my end goal, which is to become an event planner.”

If you are interested in interning with us, we’d love to hear from you and talk all things involving events! Please email us at

Welcome Table Ideas for Your Wedding

May 5th, 2018

At most all Historic Mankin Mansion weddings, couples make a statement at their wedding with a beautiful welcome table. Not only is it the first thing that guests see upon arriving to your special day, often leaving a lasting impression on them, but it also helps make sure the guests know the flow of events.

A welcome table can be simple with just a welcome sign and programs or it can be more elaborate and personalized with a guest book, photos from the engagement or from family members’ weddings, drinks and an area for cards and gifts. They are also a great place to encourage people to use the wedding hashtag, or if planning an unplugged wedding, they are the place to let guests know.

Take a look at some of these welcome tables for inspiration!
