Creative ways to say Thank You

November 18th, 2013

Having your friends and family present to celebrate with you on your wedding day is a wonderful thing.  Thank you messages to your guests are one way to show your gratitude and appreciation for their love and support. With help from Pinterest, we have found unique ways to say thank you through photography. Here are some of our favorites:

Multiple photos throughout the wedding is a great way for guests to see how special the day was. This is a cute thank you card option that is sure to really capture your love for one another!

Sending a post card with a picture of the two of you officially as “Mr. and Mrs.” is another fun way to say thanks. Since postcards aren’t often used these days it will make it that much more memorable. And remember- a honeymoon pic could be a fun option as well!

If you’re looking for a more intimate shot to use on a thank you card, this next option may be a great one to consider. So romantic! :)

The use of sparklers spelling out thank you is a great option for an evening wedding, or another popular trend is to have the letters on fabric cut out individually along string held in between the bride and groom.

Wedding planning can sometimes be an overwhelming process and without the support of friends and family, it would be more difficult. Thank you cards are a perfect way to say just how much you’ve appreciated their support and presence on your wedding day. With so many unique and creative ways to do this, we hope we have inspired you when deciding how you want to deliver this message.

Trending Color Combinations

November 11th, 2013

One of the first things to check off the wedding planning to-do list is what colors are going to be the focus for the Big Day.  With so many to choose from, it can be difficult to pick, so knowing what the trends are can be very helpful. Luckily, we have been searching Pinterest to find some of our favorites:

In years past, selecting two or more colors was the norm, but this year, couples are opting to just pick one color and use the different shades of that color to create fun textures while still maintaining a cohesive theme.

Why pick just one or two colors when so many couples are deciding to choose them all? Rainbow is back with a bang and has turned into one of our favorite trends! Rainbow is such an easy way to create a statement piece at a wedding, like a sprinkle cake or colorful bouquets.

On the other end of the spectrum, couples are gravitating toward a beige and neutral wedding. These colors have such a warm and rich look to them, and we love the way they are making a comeback.

Make sure when picking a color theme it is strategically placed throughout the wedding ceremony and reception to avoid over-doing it. But remember, color is such a great way for a couple to show off their unique creativity.

Halloween Themed Weddings!

October 31st, 2013

Happy Halloween all! It’s that time of year again and we are excited to share some creative and fun ways to have your perfect Halloween themed wedding.

If you’re a bride who loves Halloween then  of course you’re going to love sweet treats! That brings us to our first idea when creating a Halloween theme, and that is how detailed you make your cake! After all, the cake is often referred to as the centerpiece of the reception, so why not highlight your theme and really go all out ? Tie in the colors that go along with Halloween with some crazy spooky designs, or even have your cake toppers as skeletons!

HMM Halloween 1

Every detail matters when putting together a theme and it’s no different on Halloween.  Consider incorporating token Halloween decor throughout the aisle. The guest book is another opportunity to take advantage , and we love how the bride and groom had guests sign an old parchment book with an ink quill to create a vintage vibe. As for your reception, creating a candy bar is a great idea to have guests go trick-or-treating! After all who doesn’t love candy?

HMM Halloween 2

For a more subtle approach,we loved the idea of having reclaimed wood signs as well as pumpkins on hand for the fall effect. Remember- it’s the little details that make a wedding memorable.

HMM Halloween 3

Something that caught our attention was how great this next idea was for a ring bearer! Have the rings in a coffin shaped wooden box with the words “Til Death Do Us Part” written on the front. This is perfect for the bride who loves a good DIY project.

HMM Halloween 4

When planning a Halloween themed wedding,  there are a variety of options to consider incorporating. With Halloween, be creative and don’t forget to have a little fun in the process!

Ceremony Decor Trends!

October 21st, 2013

Today we are excited to share some trending décor ideas that will dress up the wedding ceremony! With the help of Pinterest, we have found a few ideas and themes:

Lace has recently been making numerous appearances in wedding ceremonies. As you can see in this photo, it can be used to create a unique backdrop!

HMM SO 1

Another great option to consider when choosing décor for the ceremony is the use of ribbons and garland. In this example the ribbons and garland create an intimate setting for the happy couple to exchange their vows.

HMM SO 2

Those who like to think outside the box may like the idea of hosting an unusual ceremony space such as this example. Change things up by creating a unique space like this for guests to be seated on and around the alter area.

HMM SO 3

For anyone who loves to include their color scheme in the ceremony, this next trend might appeal to them. The ombre effect is something that has taken off in the wedding industry and we can see why with this beautiful example!

HMM SO 4

Having a unique backdrop to exchange vows in front of is another trend that will certainly create a romantic vibe. With this photo you can see many options that work such as draped curtains, interesting use of floral arrangements and woodwork.

HMM SO 5

Knowing what is trendy in the wedding world is always useful when planning the big day! We hope that these trends mentioned above gave some helpful inspiration to vamp up the ceremony decor.

Throwing a Brunch Wedding

October 14th, 2013

Weddings are normally seen as a late afternoon or evening event, but one of the most popular trends this year is opting for a brunch soiree in the late morning.

We can’t get enough of this idea and have found some great ways to throw a brunch wedding on Pinterest.

At a brunch wedding, it really is all about the food, and with so many food options to choose from there a number of ways to serve them. One of the more popular ways is by setting up several food ‘bars’ with different breakfast favorites like pancakes, waffles, biscuits and omelets. Don’t forget about drinks too, like a mimosa bar, bloody mary bar and coffee bar.

Talk about throwing tradition out the window! Some of our favorite cakes haven’t been made out of cake mix at all. Embrace the brunch theme with a crepe cake, pancake cake or mini doughnut cake!

Games at weddings have been popular for a long time, and brunch is the perfect setting for this. Bring out some corn hole or set up a croquet course; anything to get the guests up and having fun!

Brunch decor is usually more light and whimsical and a little less formal, much like the wedding itself. Try using lighter colors and bright flowers that will make the room pop.

Breakfast is a meal almost everyone can get behind, which is why this trend has gained so much popularity. Remember to have fun with it, especially the food! What other event can give you the excuse to have a mini doughnut cake?

Some Fruity Inspiration

September 24th, 2013

What’s a wedding trend we currently love? Fruit-inspired weddings! There have recently been many wedding appearances by each season’s favorite fruits. This past summer, we saw lots of peaches and pineapples and now with fall already underway, we would like to share some fruits that will add a nice touch to any wedding aiming to incorporate seasonal details.

Apples

It’s officially apple picking season and we love the idea of incorporating these tasty fruits into the big day. They make great centerpieces, chair displays and even wonderful additions to a fall bouquet. Not only are they the perfect element for modern décor, they also make a great dessert. Include a table of sweets ranging from candied apples and pies, to hot apple cider for everyone to enjoy.

Berries

Whether it’s strawberries, blueberries, blackberries or raspberries, there’s no question that adding a mix of these fruits are lovely for a fall wedding. Their jewel toned colors make a great palette to start with and you can mix and match each of the colors from anything to the bridesmaid dresses to the floral arrangements. One idea we love when including berries is giving vintage paper bags to the crowd so they can stuff a variety of berries in it to snack on throughout the night!

Pumpkins

With October approaching, it’s time to go crazy for pumpkins and we certainly have in the wedding world! Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes make a wonderful seasonal piece at a fall wedding. You can have fun carving meaningful designs into them, such as your monogram, or line them up along the aisle.  They also make great props to hold in wedding photos, so be sure to have them ready for the camera.

Using seasonal fruits for more than tasting purposes can quickly turn a wedding into a fun nod to the season at hand. No matter what time of year it is, there is no doubt a fruit that can be incorporated into a wedding, so get your creativity flowing with some juicy fruits!
