Planning an Interfaith Wedding

December 2nd, 2013

An interfaith wedding is the blending of two different religions and cultural backgrounds. Since the 1950’s when interfaith couples made up just 20% of weddings in the United States, the trend has grown considerably in the 21st century. Today, 45% of weddings in the United States are made up of interfaith couples. When planning an interfaith wedding, it is important for the bride and the groom to stay true to who they are and what they believe, but to also be open to their new partners beliefs and remain open-minded when planning the big day.

Looking for inspiration for your own interfaith wedding? Good news! We have found some ways to help make the planning process go smoothly for everyone!

First thing’s first-  a serious talk is essential. Whether the conversation happened early on in the relationship, or after the engagement, you must make sure both parties have expressed what’s important to them to include in the wedding. It could be a particular prayer being read, a religious custom, or the choice in officiant, as long as the couple’s individual and common beliefs come through.

Another important part of bringing two religious backgrounds together is talking to both families. The couple should discuss how they want to approach each family, and make sure to show them a united front. That should eliminate a lot of conflict that could arise.

Some couples may opt for a more neutral ceremony and instead bring their cultural and religious backgrounds into the reception. Many cultures are identified by food, and it is such a fun and easy way to infuse both backgrounds together. Music and décor are both also great ways to accomplish that too.

Bringing two families together is not always easy, especially when there are differences in religion and culture. But with an open-mind, support for each other and a lot of love, it’s sure to be a wonderful day and a happy life!

Creative ways to say Thank You

November 18th, 2013

Having your friends and family present to celebrate with you on your wedding day is a wonderful thing.  Thank you messages to your guests are one way to show your gratitude and appreciation for their love and support. With help from Pinterest, we have found unique ways to say thank you through photography. Here are some of our favorites:

Multiple photos throughout the wedding is a great way for guests to see how special the day was. This is a cute thank you card option that is sure to really capture your love for one another!

Sending a post card with a picture of the two of you officially as “Mr. and Mrs.” is another fun way to say thanks. Since postcards aren’t often used these days it will make it that much more memorable. And remember- a honeymoon pic could be a fun option as well!

If you’re looking for a more intimate shot to use on a thank you card, this next option may be a great one to consider. So romantic! :)

The use of sparklers spelling out thank you is a great option for an evening wedding, or another popular trend is to have the letters on fabric cut out individually along string held in between the bride and groom.

Wedding planning can sometimes be an overwhelming process and without the support of friends and family, it would be more difficult. Thank you cards are a perfect way to say just how much you’ve appreciated their support and presence on your wedding day. With so many unique and creative ways to do this, we hope we have inspired you when deciding how you want to deliver this message.

Trending Color Combinations

November 11th, 2013

One of the first things to check off the wedding planning to-do list is what colors are going to be the focus for the Big Day.  With so many to choose from, it can be difficult to pick, so knowing what the trends are can be very helpful. Luckily, we have been searching Pinterest to find some of our favorites:

In years past, selecting two or more colors was the norm, but this year, couples are opting to just pick one color and use the different shades of that color to create fun textures while still maintaining a cohesive theme.

Why pick just one or two colors when so many couples are deciding to choose them all? Rainbow is back with a bang and has turned into one of our favorite trends! Rainbow is such an easy way to create a statement piece at a wedding, like a sprinkle cake or colorful bouquets.

On the other end of the spectrum, couples are gravitating toward a beige and neutral wedding. These colors have such a warm and rich look to them, and we love the way they are making a comeback.

Make sure when picking a color theme it is strategically placed throughout the wedding ceremony and reception to avoid over-doing it. But remember, color is such a great way for a couple to show off their unique creativity.
