Richmond Wedding: Aubrey and Anthony

November 2nd, 2015

We have a lovely treat for today’s wedding feature! Aubrey and Anthony’s breathtaking nuptials are a definite must-see. Continue on for a peek into the doting couple’s spring wedding!

1Aubrey donned a lace bridal gown with a classic sweetheart neckline. Her lace pumps pulled the entire look together from head to toe!

2Anthony and his groomsmen looked quite handsome in their navy blue and gray suits. Aubrey’s bridesmaids didn’t disappoint in their navy halters either – let’s not forget about those gorgeous bouquets!

735336673We needed handkerchiefs of our own after reading Aubrey’s sweet message to her mom. Precious moments between the bride and her family are always picture perfect!

735353772The reception featured two scrumptious cakes – a gorgeous three layer cake featuring pink sugar flowers and a hilarious Seinfeld-themed cake in honor of the groom!

735368412Kudos to the awesome live band. The dance floor was alive and full of energy the entire night!

150502-486-smCongratulations to Aubrey and Anthony! We were thrilled to be a part of your special day and hope you’re enjoying a wonderful marriage.

We have to send a big thank you to Bow Tie Photo for these amazing pictures! It was such a pleasure working with Zack and Lauren. We look forward to seeing you two again.

Tips For Working With Your DJ

June 29th, 2015

Congratulations, you’ve hired an amazing DJ (if you’re a Mansion couple, then it’s Martin!) for your wedding and now its time to follow these tips to help ensure you have the best possible DJ experience!

DJ

Pre-Wedding Meet-Up

Because of the convenience of the Internet, some people will hire a DJ online after reviewing their website without actually meeting the DJ face to face. If you’ve already booked your DJ make sure that you have an actual in person pre-wedding meet-up so that they can get a feel for your personality and the types of music and vibe you’ll want during your day. Couples booked here at the Mansion have an extensive meeting with our DJ, so we’ll have you covered!

Talk Out the Timeline

A wonderful perk to choosing a DJ for your wedding is that they can also act as your MC. As the MC, your DJ can help to tour guide the day and keep everyone on track. They are the perfect person to introduce the wedding party at the reception or announce that the cake is being cut. By discussing your timeline with your DJ in advance, you can make sure that everyone is on the same page for how you would like the day to unfold. Also discussing your timeline means you don’t have to worry about managing things on your big day!

Do and Do Not Play Lists

Everyone has their own favorite song so make sure you let your DJ know the must play music that you definitely will want played. You don’t want to wait all night and never hear your favorite jam. On the flip side, also be sure that you specify songs that make you cringe and that you do not want played!

Hopefully these tips will help you in your planning to have the best possible experience with your wedding DJ!

Engaged? The First Three To-Do’s

January 19th, 2015

SAM_4798P

“Congratulations! You’re Engaged!” You can hear it 100 times, but it’s still exciting. If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed in the magical first days of your engagement, you’re not alone. Planning a wedding is an enormous journey that you are about to embark upon. But, have no fear – there are ways to make it as simple as possible!

First, take a deep breath, relax, and start at the beginning. There are three things you need to do as soon as you get engaged:

Create Your Preliminary Budget and Guest List

Before you can choose anything, you need to know roughly how many guests you are expecting and how much money you can set aside for your wedding budget. Start by having parents make lists of people they would ideally invite, and compare those to your own guest lists. Get an idea for how large the number could become, and then make it a point to have some serious discussions about your priorities and your resources. Find out, as graciously as possible, if there will be any contributions to hosting your special day and start a basic budget with a realistic number. You’ll refine your monetary and guest list goals later, but you need a point from which to begin.

Pick a Season

Most brides want to book a date early on so they can mark it on all their calendars and start counting down. While there is nothing wrong with picking a favored date (be it an anniversary, a special family day, etc.), it’s best to be flexible and select a certain season or month in case your favorite venue is booked for a certain day. Consider different times of day – if you prefer an evening wedding, perhaps the long days of summer is your ideal season.

Start Shopping for Your Perfect Venue

Once you know how many guests you plan to invite, how much you have to spend and when you are hoping to wed, it’s time to really invest some time in choosing your perfect venue. You can’t take any further steps, including booking vendors or spreading the word about your date, until you’ve secured the place where you will tie the knot. Don’t forget – the best venues book early, so make this one of the very first stops on your way to wedding bliss!
