The best way to ensure that your wedding day runs smoothly is setting up your schedule ahead of time. There’s a lot that needs to get done before and after the ceremony, so getting your timeline just right is key. Here’s a rundown that’ll help get your day in order!
Try to rise and shine nice and early in the morning- the general rule of thumb for an evening wedding is that you’ll want to be up by mid-morning. This should give everyone enough time to recover if they had an extra good time the night before. Enjoy breakfast and complete any morning rituals, whether it be yoga or meditation to calm those pre-wedding jitters.
Depending on when the ceremony is scheduled to start, carve out enough time for everyone to get dressed and take pre-ceremony photos. Taking as many photos up front as possible allows you to spend as much time as possible with your loved ones after saying “I Do.” If you would like to do a first look, you’ll need to hit the ground running even earlier, so take time to speak with your photographer to map out the perfect plan.
Spend about 15 minutes before the ceremony getting the wedding party lined up for the processional. This is the perfect time to make sure the rings are where they need to be. Typically, the ceremony should run about a half hour (although this varies!) and then your guests are off to cocktail hour. While everyone’s mixing and mingling after the ceremony, you’ll be snapping photos with your new Mr./Mrs. and the wedding party!
Try to make your grand entrance into the reception no later than an hour after the start cocktail hour. You’ll often begin with a grand entrance and many go right into the first dance before dinner is served. This, of course, varies as some couples prefer to have the special dances between courses or after the meal has ended. The best thing you can do is map out the reception with your trusted planner to ensure all of the to do’s take place before the big exit.
Save yourself the headache of feeling overwhelmed on your Special Day by getting your schedule in tiptop shape beforehand. Meet with your vendors and map out a plan that’ll keep everyone on track from start to finish. Most importantly, make sure all vendors have a copy of the final timeline to ensure everyone is on the same page.
Planning out the Big Day may seem overwhelming, but it’s the very best thing you can do to ensure that you enjoy every minute of your wedding!
